About parenting
It is incredible!
It is challenging, yet I love it! Here what I learned thanks to my love, our daughters and our families and friends. Actually, from whoever, really!
This is about parenting, which is also growing-up.
Parenting is a state of mind. Biology helps, but it is neither necessary nor sufficient.
Children are better taught with assurance (*autorevolezza: authoritarian but not authoritative). Who has assurance and prestige does not need authority.
To grow complete, children need constant love, a lot of care at the beginning, guidance without exaggeration, and also the right amount of wonder, boredom, magic, sorrow and fear, while a lot of playing.
Rules are just as important as exceptions.
Being able to make mistakes is very important. But certain limits cannot be crossed and parents must state those limits very clearly.
It's a lot? Is it too little? Is it enough? I'm proceeding by trial and error. Alone it is practically impossible to find the right measures: to raise a child, everyone needs some support.
Ideally, parents should never loose control. Practically, life is so chaotic that it is impossible to always keep calm if you do not have enough time, wisdom, resources and strength. I let it be and try to pay attention to the signs of warning, taking help so that I do not loose too much of it.
When they are grown up, they must be let choose their way. Hopefully, I'll know when the time is right, so that they will be able to find their own path.
When you grow old, you should be able to accept a shift in roles with your children and hand over the reins.
Since I had faced motherhood, I have stopped judging so much other parents.
Sometimes kids are like golden balls and chains, like the most precious treasure that you want to keep safe. Sometimes, they are like flying balloons that can bring you up in fantastic places.
Children are masters of heresy and psychedelia. Not everyone likes to engage with them.
I totally get why not everybody wants their own children.
You can be parent of someone and parent of something.
